Community
Outreach
Building relationships in
the community... Every quarter, an outreach
aimed at the community-at-large is given to
spiritually and physically encourage those who
are impoverished and in need of hope. The outreaches
are usually held outdoors and the following
are provided: hot lunch, bagged lunches for
later consumption, clothes, hygiene products,
Bibles, Christian books and pamphlets, literature
on resource agencies where they can find assistance
for utilities or receive free HIV testing [for
example], giveaways (boom boxes, walkman, etc)
and gift bags consisting of miscellaneous items
(mint candy, beauty aids, etc.). The outreaches
are preceded by prayer and consecration and
on the morning of the outreaches, witnessing
teams are sent out in the community to share
Christ. Many times, those who are witnessed
to will come to the outreach service held in
the afternoon as well as those reached by flyers.
After the service, hot lunch is served coupled
with fellowship and further assessment of needs.
