"When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him. Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” - Gospel of Mark 16:1-3
I don't believe this question would have been on the minds of the women if men had come along. These women came prepared to do a work: to anoint the body of Jesus. But they thought about the obstacle they would face upon their arrival. A very large and heavy stone was put in front of the tomb to seal the entrance; and this same stone "weighed" heavily on their minds as they made their way to the sepulcher. Even the very presence of men would have alleviated this concern.
Men are absolutely vital to the ministry of the Lord Jesus. In these troubling times, they are now critical. Their absence has been and is now the source of many problems plaguing our society. Men, who once were our protectors, providers, priests and yes, even prophets, have relegated that role to the women around them and the results have been disastrous. Not that women didn't have the courage or the effort, but the grace and anointing to lead a family, a church, and a nation was put upon a man and we are now suffering for the man's abdication of his role.
We salute every man who is faithful to his wife; faithful to his children; faithful to his employer and especially faithful to God. Manhood is not for wimps or crybabies. That is quite evident in our world because being a godly, holy man takes courage. May God give us men the courage and boldness we need to lift up holy hands without wrath [anger] or doubting [controversy].
